Pros

For my first 5 years at the facility, I had one of the best managers anyone could hope to have in their career. He was excellent in ever regard, even though he managed a large team. Working for him was the highlight of my career. Also, the facilities engineers are excellent people, easy to work with and extremely knowledgeable.

Cons

There was a senior, upper-level manager that publicly stated controversial comments on topics ranging from global warming, gender, the environment, and diversity. It was very clear that he was not the correct person to manage people or help people meet their career goals. He was not fit to work in his position. HR was a mixed bag. There was an incredible HR employee that was thoughtful, experienced, and helpful; but there was also upper level HR that seemed to be more self-serving and disinterested to put it mildly.

Pros

CEO is the real deal-Is making real changes from the ground up- how evaluations are performed, compensation etc. 2 Previous CEO’s we’re useless Good resumé builder (Perennial top performers frequently leave due to poor compensation)

Cons

HR refuses to acknowledge they have an attrition problem. They make uninformed decisions about personnel with the insistence that they ARE informed. Compare Technician compensation to that of Target distribution center. That’s right, Target. Attrition- Not going to beat a dead horse here, but when you have people that have spent 5+ years with the company and make less than inexperienced new hires what does that say about 1.) merit increase programs 2.)career growth opportunity 3.)incentive for staying. Their philosophy is to underpay their people (top performers included) until they actually find a better paying job and wait til they’re out the door to compensate them. “Sorry that ship has sailed and my mind was made up months ago” Keep your people happy and they won’t look in the 1st place No incentive for being a top performer. You’re going to get the same “meets expectations” review score as the guy that just shows up No reward for the guys that got left behind and still stuck it out through the tough years.

Pros

Good and friendly co-workers on site.

Cons

-Management will expect you to know everything with minimal training -No forgiveness if you mess up. One screw up and management will watch you like a hawk -If you are a temp, they will drag their heels with hiring you full time. -12 hour days, barely any work. Management will not go the extra mile to find you any work. Too much down time -NO HOLIDAYS OR WEEKENDS OFF. 24/7 Management gets to have them off. But if it's christmas or thanksgiving. You are still working.
