Pros

If you last long enough, the company gets Black Friday and Christmas Eve off.

Cons

So many to choose from... Low pay - They use the pension as a reason people don't get paid industry average, but people either quit or get let go long before they are even vested in the pension. No Profit Sharing Bonus - They like to brag about how well they did for the quarter or year, yet do nothing for the employees that broke their backs to make it happen. Raises - Doesn't matter if you bust your back or sham, you're getting on average 2% raise every year... and health insurance rates will go up 3%, so don't get excited about it. Penny-Pinching - I was forced to purchase my own computer screens (needed larger ones because I can't code on a laptop screen or a 13" display) because my penny pinching boss and ball-less manager refused to walk upstairs to the IT Support area and just ask for them (didn't cost any departmental funds). Did I get reimbursed for my own screens? Hell no. Also, the company doesn't care about ergonomics, so you better be creative because you don't get a supportive chair and your desk is permanently installed in your cubicle. Man-Eat-Man Environment - If you DO decide to not heed my warnings, and come work at Globe Life, make sure you document EVERYTHING to cover yourself. When things go wrong, they are very quick to blame downhill and write you up for something that your higher-ups were responsible for. This is not a team environment. When things go well, the highest person on the ladder takes the credit and when things don't go well, the lowest person takes it up the... well, you get the point. PTO - So, newer employees accrue about 5 hours of PTO per paycheck. If you have the bosses that I had, you will be shunned every time you're sick, your kids are sick, you have car trouble, or house burns down. Also, have the ability to work from home, but get reprimanded every time I did so instead of taking PTO. Management - The management culture is the worst I've ever seen. It's about who you suck up to, not how well you do your job. There are inept directors that just will not be let go, even though they do more harm than good to their department. Also, management is not open to new ways of solving problems. This is toxic for any company. You WILL have a target on your back if you try to do the right thing and suggest better/faster/cheaper options to their 1990's solutions to problems.

Pros

Friendly people, supervisors are nice, catered lunch but it sales out quick and if you don't have the first lunch you're the lucky ones anybody after that it is either sold out or gone.

Cons

Don't have an allergic reaction because they will fire you. Training is draining, you sit in the same room for 2 weeks with no windows and 15 minute breaks. Applied for the $14/hr position, when hired I was then told it was really $12/hr??

Pros

Stable, overall environment for professionals is not very competitive, nice place to settle down, flexible work schedules, great location for those living in the suburbs

Cons

It's not what you know it's who you know, political and secretive culture, low employee morale, pay rate not competitive for skills, outsiders not welcomed.
