The only thing "management" cares about is how many pieces you do per hour, even though it's work that should not be piecemeal. Even analytical work or work that may take some research is timed. It's an inaccurate and unfair way to pay an employee. Merits are not rewarded. There are employees that have been in the same position for 10+ years, not because they haven't applied elsewhere within the company, but because the management refuses to allow them to move up within the company. I had an immaculate record at the company, popular amongst employees, had been there over 4 years, was one of the few that had a BA degree, and I wanted to stay with the company but was bored with my current position. Management refused to move me to another position within the company. I left this company and doubled my salary with another company.
