Pros

They give a second chance to people looking to turn their lives around, such as people with felonies on their records, gaps in their work histories, or disabilities. A good starter job for re-integrating into the workforce.

Cons

The overall company operates as a large, impersonal bureaucracy, with many rigid policies that change constantly, and mountains of paperwork. At the particular store where I'm employed, employees get worked hard, with high production quotas and heavy physical demands; training is minimal and the environment is often chaotic. (Note that co-workers report varying experiences depending on location.)
