Best big law firm that I know of

Pros

Competitive compensation for attorneys, practice group leaders that actually care about associates being happy (may vary practice group to practice group - but mine is great), endless training opportunities, great benefits, very supportive of flexible work arrangements, very supportive of doing pro bono work, at the associate level at least if you're a jerk you end up being shown to the door.

Cons

Like any firm, there are long hours, travel is often required. Like any firms, there can be internal politics that aren't always fair or logical.

Pros

For the most part, partners and leadership are appreciative and nice. Your mileage may vary depending on the BU/geography. From a marketing perspective, it was energizing to see the publicity resulting from deals. You're exposed to projects across the spectrum, and there's definitely the potential to develop a transferable skill set. The new brand is sharp, modern and IMO stands out from other firms. New offices are sleek, and in Boston especially you can feel the energy.

Cons

Data entry^infinity. A lot of churn, so perpetually short staffed, resulting in a tactical approach instead of strategic. Extremely hierarchical/top down, with little to no growth opportunities. Much surface-level ado over buzzwords such as "collaborative." At the end of the day, it IS still a law firm.

Vacation time and sick time was good can carry it over and benefits were great. This was only good thing about working here.

Cons

Administrative and Hr not great. Not a good place to work I will only give one star. Boston accounting are not nice at all
