Do not work here unless you want to get fired!

Pros

None! They are constantly having RIFs and blaming it on performance when they have nothing to validate these claims...

Cons

Unpleasant people to work with, constant changes to firmwide stances (always putting their foot in their mouth), always finding ways to push out staff when their pockets get tight, ridiculous use of budget, the list goes on and on. They spend more time battling it out in fishbowl's comment sections than they do running the buisness.

Pros

If you're interested in building a career in Law, this is a good stepping stone. Depending on your role, there is significant exposure to attorneys and plenty of networking opportunities. If you're on a supportive team, there are opportunities to develop your skills as long as you are willing to play along with the typical corporate politics. Lunch Tuesday through Thursday and they care about the "Goodwin Culture" and in person interactions. Good benefits. If you're willing to stick it out, you will eventually be promoted but it is common knowledge the easier route is boomerang-ing.

Cons

The growth opportunities are pretty limited, though this seems to be advertised differently in interviews. Your hours and workload are very dependent on the team you're part of and their leaders. Some work normal 9-5 while others work nearly the same as the attorneys for less than 1/3 of their pay. Goodwin's reputation is fairly poor at the moment, and although not all rumors are true, it does make external relations more difficult. Poor employee satisfaction and high turnover are viewed as typical "Big Law" occurrences and the actual reasons for these issues aren't questioned or addressed. Your managers will fully make or break your experience.
