Pros

Weekly pay £14 an hour Local to you, less travel Lots of opportunity for upward mobility

Cons

It’s not a supervisory role, it’s an assistant manger role wrapped in the shift leader title. They expect you to run the packing side with the packers, handle the riders, the orders, and the logistics side by yourself! Also train new staff, handle paperwork, take care of the bikes, handle incidents and accidents, pack orders yourself, handle stock coming in (in compliance with the law), put away these items, do expiry of older products, call customers, manage staff etc. All while the actual manager of the store only does 40hours a week, so the shift leads are alone the rest of the time. If anything a manager should handle comes up, guess who’s expected to handle it? Do I get paid to do this, f no. This is could be managed easily if you have a decent manager who listens to staff and sets common sense procedures and providers balance in the warehouse. But the managers are under pressure from the devils above as well so don’t hold your breath. Again giving strong Amazon vibes, and it is heading towards that. As it’s a start up, it’s in its first year, expect changes every week and be held to the changes in a condescending way from upper management as if it was a procedure that was there from the beginning. Y’all don’t know what your doing, so don’t expect me too. Shift patterns are crazy, open from 8am to 2am, so expect to do day (mid) and night shifts in the same week. Say bye bye to a healthy sleep pattern. High staff turnover because it’s a heavily physical job, so burn out is REAL! Stupid shift patterns , no night pay, no holiday pay for packers or riders but shift leaders have it. If there is no manager on site, then I am the acting manager and should be paid accordingly.
