GOOD ENTRY LEVEL COMPANY.

Pros

Good company if you are right out of school. Lots of training for entry level people.

Cons

Lots of layoffs. They eliminate positions and people with the winds of the stock market. Most decisions are made based on short term impact, without consideration of how it affects the employees.

Pros

The company has great benefits and one of the best retirement funds through their company sponsored profit sharing trust. The employees do not contribute any money into their retirement, the company provides a % of earnings for each employee.

Cons

The company's loyalty has shifted from being a company that cared about their people to a company that cares more about their profits. They have been cutting jobs, shifting roles to Panama and other overseas entities and expecting more from less head count as well as expecting high profits. There is no more company loyalty from the company or its people. Very sad because Grainger use to be a company people would begin and end their careers with 35+ years; now, most people leave within 5.

Pros

Great benefits, reputable company, The profit sharing plan is very strong. Lots of opportunities to move into other positions if you know the right people.

Cons

Company has lost it's most prized possession, which is employee retention. They have moved towards a younger less tenured work force and forced long tenured employees into early retirement or they have fired them.
