Pros

Great work-life balance - work from home accepted without question, flexible work schedules truly available. Generous benefits. Easy going atmosphere (for the unambitious).

Cons

Classic old-school 20th century company, dense with management, struggling to avoid change in a changing world. Grainger's values are in contradiction. They want to do right by employees (see above), but they put a premium on tact, secrecy, and obedience. More than discouraged, employees and low level managers demonstrating speed and initiative are often punished. Grainger constantly re-orgs, but never changes.

Pros

Great benefits, Great company to work for generally speaking. Lots of opportunity to develop through company intranet resources.

Cons

Work / Life balance could be better. With long tenured employees opportunity for advancement is very minimal unless willing to relocate, and even then the opportunities are very limited.
