Pros

Company offers profit sharing. Focuses on high performance selling. You truly get to know B2B.

Cons

In order for a promotion you must know the "right people". They will hire managers who only do as they are told. Basically puppets to upper management. These managers don't push back to to stand up for their employees. Ultimately, the employees looses all respect. Reason being they don't have a clue how to effectively manage and motivate employees.

Pros

the profit sharing was great, the line staff are hardworking, many different locations to choose where you want to work, stable profitable company

Cons

the buddy systems has made managers out of people who couldn't flip burgers for a living. They are not connected to their bread & butter--the customers. All they want to do is find their next "opportunity" so they can continue making over 100K + a year and do no real income generating work. The commissions and bonuses that Grainger pays out to its managers and sales team is unbalanced, since none of them have to put their hands on any product. This is what will keep Grainger behind the competition in the long run.

Pros

Previously attractive work life balance, benefits / compensation, development opportunities

Cons

Can no longer survive on high margins in a changing economy/ category. Amazon Business poses a threat to midsize & small customers. Gender discrimination in some parts of the organization in spite of endorsement of diversity.
