Pros

Co workers can be great.

Cons

The recent layoffs and outsourcing and forcing people to come into the office if they live 50 miles or less is making many people reconsider working here. People are starting to realize that access to the executives and ability to voice concerns doesn't matter. Last year , conservative Ohio Supreme Court Judge was basically given a platform to talk to all employees. Still not sure how that's legal. Corporate keeps insisting they're still inclusive, while encouraging votes for people who will harm them. It looks like old fashioned ideas are winning out everywhere. Everything tech wise is either outsourced or has incompetent people in charge. Technology is old . Issues with technology are ever present, but CIO still has his job. Communications about returning to the office made it sound like they couldn't build trust remotely- which made a lot of remote employees confused. It looks like we are punished with return to the office because a few higher ups couldn't figure out how to use technology to have an effective meeting. But it's phrased as "to build community ". They are spending money on rehabs of multiple spaces, while the claim was there was no money in the budget for raises... Many people will quit or do their worst work from February on . Imagine commuting 40 miles each way in the snow, sleet and ice..to work for a small insurance carrier most people never heard of.

We’re very sorry to hear you feel this way. We know that transitioning to two days in the office and three days at home will be change for some of our associates, which is why we made sure to inform associates of this change several months in advance to help them prepare. It’s also important to note that while we will be transitioning to a hybrid schedule, we will continue to embrace our policy of flexibility to accommodate the day-to-day needs of our associates. We are open to your feedback and suggestions throughout this process. If you have additional feedback you’d like to share, please do not hesitate to reach out to your manager or HR Business Partner.

Pros

The cafeteria's nice. The benefits were good, but they're slowly cutting back on them each year.

Cons

Leadership means several things: making informed and educated decisions, taking responsibility for one's actions and giving credit to those who deserve it. Leadership also requires one be able to defend one's ideas persuasively when others have contrary opinions. Grange's CIO and CTO have none of these qualities. Instead, they do things merely based on the fact that "other companies are doing it". They blame others for their bad decisions and take the credit when things go well. Unable to bear criticism or anything resembling the truth, they fire experienced and seasoned employees when uncomfortable facts are presented to them. They fired numerous people earlier this year with the intent of taking IT in one direction. After the project inevitably ran into issues, they punished the remaining employees through mandatory weekends, micro-management and even humiliation. They later entirely reversed course on that decision ... with little fanfare, of course. As a consultant, I've never seen more employees intentionally leave a company than I have at Grange's Commercial Lines IT. Never. Not in over 15 years. Perhaps this is a "feature", not a bug. As more and more people leave, they are being replaced by cheap overseas labor.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We are reviewing your feedback with the appropriate people. We want to ensure that our IT department and associates can make a smooth transition while we work to keep pace with the new technology and innovations happening right now in the insurance industry. We encourage associates to help us by joining groups such as the Culture Committee, Survey Task Force or Manager Action Committee.
