Pros

Opportunity to travel the country

Cons

Too many managers and executives. Too many administrative personnel. Overhead is so high, they can't win a bid in the large project group. Little to no communication to employees about their future with the company, especially as a job nears completion. Managers do not understand how to motivate employees without yelling or screaming. No one asks questions - everyone makes assumptions and gets angry when their assumptions are incorrect. Old company so very thick with "good-ole boy" network. If you're not in the "click", you won't get very far.

Pros

Management convinces a board of directors and shareholders each and every year that money doesn’t matter. What else could explain them approving massive pay days for themselves while ignoring that profit margins can be rounded down to zero!!

Cons

Senior Management claims we are operations-oriented but they fired the Chief Operating Officer in 2017 and last time I checked, they haven't replaced him! CEO reviews and micromanages inconsequential things like equipment and bid pipeline, even for the smaller regions and areas Merit doesn’t matter. Senior management rewards favorites. Turned from family oriented company I was proud to work for into something I don't recognize. Ruined the great company former CEO Bill Dorey built Not agile and thinks "Granite" is best in business. Because of that, they don't change how they do things and can’t articulate a real strategy besides “let’s keep doing the same thing we’ve done for the last 85 years”.
