Disgraceful Excuse for an Employer

Pros

Granite does an excellent job of hiring people who are over qualified for their positions and making them feel otherwise. The exception would be management, which by and large, is full of people who would likely never achieve such success elsewhere and this is why they never leave. While there are some people who exemplify what management should be, most of them are promoted because they are malleable and lack the ambition required to move on. Free gym. Close the T, which many people should take because the parking lots are a complete mess of a situation. Free shirts for those who work out or when they make a big revenue goal, although they put the company value on the shirts, which is completely pompous and tacky.

Cons

Granite runs on favorites. You can be the top performer on one team and the worst on another depending on how your manager feels about you. The transparency of the bias will be denied if you bring up but obvious for everyone to see. Management fosters an incredibly unhealthy and unprofessional environment. So disconnected from employees that they use snitches to keep them informed of things they might know if they paid attention. No HR and very conscious of image: There is someone on salary reviewing and rebutting every review and then soliciting fake positive reviews to counterbalance the negatives and bring up the overall score. Members of management seek to identify those who they think would be willing to write positive reviews and flat out ask them to do so. Perhaps they could have put those resources into addressing employee concerns rather than devoting an entire human whose only purpose is to temper the terrible image they've constructed amongst their employees might be helpful. Turnover: a revolving door to the point that some employees are asked to lie about leaving the company when handing over accounts and instead told to claim a new position within. CEO is an immature, petulant manchild. Clearly very insecure as he is a prime example of nepotism as opposed to hard work and behaves like he's running a frat house rather than a company. Berated unhappy employees for honestly answering a survey that he asked them to take instead of taking into consideration the concerns leading to said dissatisfaction. Told people to quit because he is unwilling to change anything mentioned ever (actual statement) This place is such an absolute joke that it's shocking that people still want to work there. I admit to being a hopeful prospect writing off negative reviews as disgruntled ex employees but from first hand experience, it is an abnormal company in that it leaves employees worse than they come in.

Pros

Most coworkers are around the same age with similar levels of experience which helps build a collaborative team environment and develop strong working relationships. Great place to learn new skills which makes it a good job for someone fresh out of college to gain a year or two of corporate experience before moving on. Free gym, saves on average $10-$30 per month compared to other local options Company is philanthropic and donates to multiple charities.

Cons

The ever growing job responsibilities for this role can be daunting even to self-starters. Your experience/success in this role is strongly dependent on the accounts you are assigned to manage. Office politics here are a bit dated and the company as whole is not very flexible. There are no work from home options available for employees who are required to work during large snow storms. If you can't make it in you're taking the time out of your PTO. At the time there didn't seem to be any action plans from upper management to improve any of these in the future.
