Do not communicate expectations clearly - as even they say, they "don't do a lot of management". You are however responsible for those expectiations. Onboarding is "drinking through a fire hose". Want to know deeply about employees (the interview process was probably more personal than most other companies' interview processes), but don't be fooled into thinking this disclosure may not cost you - it did cost me. Be careful about what you share with them. I was particularly hurt by the fact that the CEO said they'd work with employees in a rough stretch, even giving them a sabbatical if need be, and yet when I went through a hard time I was terminated suddenly - by the time I was told I was in danger of being let go, I think the decision was already made. Pay is rather low relative to expectations (in full disclosure, I didn't get a year-end bonus payment, so I don't know what that is typically) Overall, this is not a good first (or second) job. Only recommended for those who have mature development careers, aren't optimizing pay, and/or looking for a remote position - and most people who succeed at GSG fit that profile.
