Pros

The pros would be the companies investment in their employees. The comradery with my fellow co-workers. Pay that is structured to effort and the ability to learn a business that is vital to the development of town's, neighborhoods and cities. Having a amazing support staff to work around is another pro that has aided in my satisfaction with this company. It's a 8-5 Monday through Friday work week and plenty of holidays too. I worked retail as a manager for over a decade prior to me working at Graybar. I remember coming into work and feeling anxiety about my store's performance and the constant micro-managing I had to endure daily, weekly and monthly. I lost the passion for my previous job and wondered if it was something that I could regain after being beaten down year after year. Then came a day where everything changed. I attended a job fair and met my current boss and well the rest has been history. I enjoy waking up for work everyday. I enjoy the quality of life that has been vastly improved over the past six months, I also enjoy having something to be passionate about and encourages me to invest in myself to improve and to constantly challenge myself day after day.

Cons

Not having standing desks. Décor in the office is from 1992.

Pros

I worked retail for 10 years through high school and college then afterwards. Did not find much in way of my major and thought I was trapped. I found Gravbar and began working through many different areas of the company till my present job of Inside Sales for the past 11 years. I have been with Graybar for 21 yrs now and I have been thoroughly impressed with the way the company continues to service our industry and our customers. We continue to be a leader in distribution amidst all the changes by and attacks from competition. With all jobs you have good days and bad ones but this location has been the greatest for friends, support, comradery and recognition. With all jobs, pay is base level but the profit sharing and stocks really help improve your overall wealth. When I was young you don't plan for the future or unthought of expenses. But the 401k and stocks have been paying out year over year. I can now pay for a very nice vacation with my current stock portfolio dividends and it is still growing my base for retirement. 401k, add to it all you want , the profit sharing of up to 15% has been great to grow my retirement. With any job you get out what you put into it and perseverance is key. I don't think anything could really come along to convince me to leave this company and the great people I have worked with over the years. This is a company to stay with, 28 yrs. 26 yrs. 20yrs. 5yrs or 1. We have them all just in this branch alone and opportunities all around the country. So come for the job, stay for the career.

Cons

Starting pay may not seem like much but it is only the beginning. Start in a young branch, if you are in a older location it may seem dour from what I hear. But you could be that bright spot to change the mood. Management expects results and constant improvement. You cannot stand pat and every year it is expected to deliver and improve. Sometimes too much so. But persevere through it all, is what I can say.

Pros

pay was 17/hr I guess

Cons

Work here if you want to but don't be a driver. One of the worst experiences of my life. You'll be ready to go with the materials and they'll tell you they forgot some things and add more stuff where you have to leave later than when you wanted. You will get blamed for everything that goes wrong. Having this done every now and then is fine but the fact that it becomes a constant thing is when it starts to eat at you. After a few months of being there, there started to be a favoritism towards a particular driver which led them to getting short routes all the time and that to me is utter bs since the routes are (or were) supposed to change every day. The warehouse people think they own you and can boss you every which way. I will end it here because I am tired of typing but know this is not even a quarter of the bs that you will go through as a driver here. STAY AWAY.
