Horrible company

Pros

The only thing would be the vacation time

Cons

This company allows racial bullying especially if thier parents used to work there. This is a good old boy's club ran by men who bully people especially if you do not allow stupid comments towards race and sex. They will find a way to fire you or force you out if you report the racial comments made to you.

Pros

Relaxed atmosphere. Modern SAP computer system (better than alot of other places). lots of training opportunities. perfect stepping stone into industrial sales, project management, quotes, and logistics. Good working hours. Alot of opportunities to travel on business to training and trade shows. Fun to travel and a very good opportunity to get to know sales engineers and sales reps. Mentorship is almost required to get ahead. There are many senior employees that enjoy training new people. Flexible about position. If your role gets slow, they might have you help out the front counter or help picking orders in the warehouse. The staff in the warehouse are almost more professional than some of the staff at the desks.

Cons

Overall a bit of a boys club; atmosphere does not match what it looks like on the surface. Too many hicks and rednecks on staff. No idea how they even got there. Too many 20+ year boomers with chips on their shoulders / too many senior employees occupying middle / entry level positions. Most people working there don't have a degree. The social atmosphere can be as gossipy as high school. They're a dying breed of business (wholesale middlemen). Inside sales will often make busywork for themselves to avoid having to make cold calls and follow ups. Their prices are hugely inflated so they can get very slow unless they're scoring big contracts. Salary: Lower pay than average; Any similar position at any company of the products that Graybar stocks will pay at least 10,000 more per year. usually even more.

Pros

There are not many pros unless you have an electrical background.

Cons

Management at the branch level is horrible, they are a terrible resource for your growth with the company. They only care about themselves. My manager was never in the office, would never have the answers to my issues or questions involving the daily tasks. My manager did anything and everything to avoid helping me. Always told me, to “Ask someone else.” During my training, I had a manager called me a derogatory name and the company acted like nothing happened. Also another incident, during my training out in the warehouse, one of the material handlers was drinking beer on his lunch break. This is completely unsafe as this person was operating heavy equipment. Brought to management attention , and nothing was handled. The online training was okay but about 5 years outdated. Most products and ideas I was learning about are not current. Everything is ever changing in this industry and the training did not align with my overall goals to becoming a successful sales rep. They really “throw you to the wolves” and let you figure it out yourself, some of the co-workers are helpful and do more than a managers role to help see other exceed. This is my experience with my branch. Not speaking on a company as a whole just my specific branch.
