Pros

Lots of opportunities to work in different departments of the company, as well as room for growth/promotion.

Cons

There isn't a lot of accountability. There are property managers out there that barely show up 30 hours a week. If the leasing staff and assistant manager are diligent, this will fly under the owners/upper management's radar, which in turn leaves the rest of the staff frustrated and under appreciated.

Pros

Insurance, 401K, Paid Holidays, Accrued Sick/Vacation, Size of company offers mobility, extensive training

Cons

-Senior leadership slow to praise quick to criticize - Community Managers are micro-managed & not permitted to run the asset as they are hired to do - HR requires numerous hoops before managers are permitted to terminated problem associates whether performance or behavioral based; this forces the manager to endure weeks if not months of lost productivity, revenue and prevents managers from seeking talent that would be a better fit for the asset - Threats of termination used regularly by Senior Leadership to intimidate, manipulate & control staff - Senior Leadership instructs managers to hide any and all aspects of property issues from the client in order to prevent loss of management contract - Fair Housing is buzz phrase of industry yet few associates (especially Senior Leadership) truly understand the nuances of the law - Corporate hosts meetings for managers/maintenance supervisors that often require extensive travel for an 8 hour meeting (leaving the property without management presence) when Skype could be utilized; this would save the properties thousands of dollars each year in travel costs. - Accounting department staff changes repeatedly throughout the year making it extremely difficult for manager's to prepare financials and extra time must be given to scrub everything if the accountant changes repeatedly
