Pros

Good renumeration packages. Some great team members across the businesses who show great resilience.

Cons

Since G1 bought Inchcape, they culled any culture or team spirit. The senior leadership lacks basic communication and the culture is now us vs them. The UK CEO was more bothered about his “new fancy office” than listening to his team and helping merge the businesses and address concerns. He led multiple senior management meetings and had little wisdom or direction to offer, just nonchalant responses which lacked any foundation. What was once a team first, results driven business, with a great support network to compliment success. Has become a cold, egotistic, blame culture with little care towards its employees.

Pros

Great colleagues — the staff are the only reason many people stay as long as they do.

Cons

Management was extremely disappointing. There were multiple family members working in senior roles within the same office, which created a strong sense of favouritism and made progression feel impossible. The environment felt unprofessional, especially for a company of Group 1’s size. Want to emphasise there’s 4 siblings working in 1 contact centre!🤣 Two are managers and two are team leaders / brand champions! the siblings are in there early 20’s and honestly it’s embarrassing how they’ve been given the roles they have. Although the wider team were genuinely lovely and hardworking, many staff shared the same concerns. Unfortunately, when issues were raised with HR, nothing seemed to change, which was very demoralising. The role is oversold at the beginning — you’re promised development and support, but over time management becomes distant and staff are treated more like numbers than people. Despite consistently achieving the highest bookings for several months, there was no recognition or appreciation. Even on my final day, there was no acknowledgement or farewell from management, which summed up the experience.

Pros

Independence in your workflow once you know what you’re doing, you can run your bay how you want.

Cons

Service advisors are extremely weak, often lacking Mercedes knowledge, causing bad write ups, duplicate concerns, and wasted time. • Corporate forces MPI videos, which means technicians are now doing the advisor’s job of selling the hard parts and repairs adding pressure and taking time away from actual fixing. • Dispatching can be inconsistent or unfair, with better jobs going to certain techs. • Very little appreciation from management, even when you handle complex work. • High expectations with low support — techs are expected to resolve issues regardless of advisor errors. • Work culture is numbers driven, not technician focused, which causes burnout. • Advisors often give incorrect or incomplete information to customers, and techs deal with the fallout. • Poor work life balance during heavy weeks, especially when chasing hours to make up for slow times.

Thank you for taking the time to lay this out in such detail. It's clear you take real pride in your craft and in doing complex work well, and that matters to us. A lot of what you describe comes down to how well the shop works as a team, advisors and technicians relying on each other to get things right for the customer, and that coordination is part of the professionalism and teamwork we hold ourselves to. We hear you on appreciation and workload, too. Skilled techs are the backbone of what we do, and we want you supported, not stretched thin. We're glad to have you on the team.
