Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Because who does not love being managed like a toddler?) Location: Groupon HQ (aka Productivity Palace) Review: If you are an Engineer who thrives under constant supervision, then boy, do I have the place for you! At Groupon, I finally found the parental guidance I never knew I needed in my career. Micromanagement? Yes, please! Why be trusted to do your job when you can have the thrill of someone always peeking over your shoulder? It's like having a manager in your keyboard—a truly intimate experience. Jira tickets for every 4 hours? Brilliant! Who needs flow state when you can break your day into perfect little blocks of bureaucracy? Nothing screams "engineering excellence" like turning a coffee break into a documented artifact. Weekly Timesheets? Oh, the joy! Every Friday, I get to relive the week by reconstructing my every move. Did I spend 23 minutes debugging or 27? Let's debate! Bonus: it’s a great way to practice fiction writing. The 5/15 Rituals? Groupon has mastered the ancient art of status worship. What better way to grow as a engineer than by writing five updates a week about what I planned, did, didn’t do, and how I failed? It’s like Agile, but with extra steps and existential dread. Mandatory 3 days in office? Finally, a break from the horrors of home-cooked lunch and flexible hours! There’s nothing like braving traffic for some good old-fashioned chair warmth monitoring. It builds character (and carbon emissions)! In Conclusion: If you’re looking for a place where trust is earned every 4 hours, your life is fully auditable, and productivity is measured in Google Sheets, Groupon is the utopia you’ve been waiting for. Come for the code, stay for the KPIs.

Management musical chairs—don’t get too attached to your manager, they’ll probably be gone by next quarter. You might start confusing your engineer role with part-time data entry, project manager, and bureaucratic monk.

- You got to work with really talented people from all over the world. You got to learn a lot from them. - Compensation match market rate

- Dying service, no innovation - Out of touch leadership from Czech that doesn't understand the market or their customer, yet they have all the power. - Some of the senior people are so rude, mean and hostile, they treat people under them like trash. Rude comments are being given out disguise as honest feedback. The reason they are getting away with this is because company has no morale, they will keep you if you make good enough profit for them regardless of how rude you are. - You are nothing more but an asset to them, if you cost too much they will cut you, if you are not in their friend group you are out. - Hiring and firing like crazy, changing leadership constantly. Everyone is exhausted because of change. - Everyone is overwork because people keep disappearing so you have to do the work of 2-3 people. They are trying to cut cost by making one person work more, then hire senior role with crazy high salary to make it up. The people at the the bottom suffer the most. - Company is so souless, even the content they produce is heavily AI generated, no creativity, no community, no loyal customer or businesses. They just living quarter by quarter with what they had before the downfall. - If you want high stress environment where everyone is so scared of losing their job all the time, you will love it here - Bonus if you like to overwork and you are workaholic who has no life outside of work and your identity is attached to this place. Management loves it and they will exhaust every ounce of your energy.
