Pros

There are several Pros associated with Guardian. 1) Decent salaries and compensation for positions. 2) Reasonable life/work balance. 3) Good location (Bethlehem) for raising a family.

Cons

There are a few negatives regarding Guardian. 1) Extremely clique oriented work culture, even with interactions between management and employees. 2) "Good ol' boy" mentality is alive and well and deeply rooted in the company. 3) There is a shift from a privately held insurance company culture to a more business-like environment, but instead of a good thing, all the negative aspects of each are emphasized. Senior management is all from outside. Middle management is all "home-grown."

Going back to the dark ages

Pros

Solid philosophy with Living Balance Sheet; some great people in Home Office; many amazing General Agents. Protection 1st Philosophy is the only proper way to work with clients.

Cons

The true talent in the Home Office has been slashed to the bone, and replaced with people with NO actual field experience, which will result in the slow death of the high quality programs offered over the last 5 years. The new Head of Distribution is a 401K/ Wholesaler expert, but lacks the basic understanding of what an agency needs to flourish. This is evident by the cuts made and the newly minted replacements. Hiring the wrong female just to hit a quota, will result severe backlash.
