Pros

For now, there are some incredibly bright people at Guidehouse who make the day to day worth it on projects. But you have to be lucky enough to get placed on their projects. Project mobility is low, so if your team is awful you’re stuck with them.

Cons

Low pay compared to competitors. Raises outpaced by inflation. Pitiful bonuses. Rigid pay structures that do not reward performance. Bain acquisition is forcing new utilization targets (time billed to clients vs not billable, like business development) that are unreasonable. They’ve taken away floating holidays. They are now expecting more business development work to be done outside of your 40hrs of client work a week. The DTO model is basically a lie because of the utilization targets, they just don’t want to pay you out for earned PTO. Essentially, Bain is making us do more for less. Additionally, there is no professional development here. It is almost impossible to build your career in topical areas you are interested in. They’ll stick you on one type of project and that’s all you’ll get. Leadership is absolutely tone deaf, C-Suite to managers. I’ve never received more irresponsible and shady C-Suite communications. There is no structure for upwards feedback, so terrible managers stay terrible managers. Everyone here is drained and overworked. The politics here are the same as at competitors, but at least you’ll be paid more.

Pros

Honestly, I can’t think of any.. extremely toxic environment and to think this was a remote position.

Cons

Do yourself a favor and do not work for this company. Initially, the recruiter will sell you a dream…about how great the company is and how they promote moving up on the company and they pair you with a Director that will really help you….LIES !! As soon as you come in you will be tasked with work that makes absolutely no sense and you are expected to pull it out of no where, with no guidance, no assistance, nothing! They do little to help you especially if you are of color even though they voice inclusion… LIES! This company has such a high turn over rate it’s ridiculous. There was one occasion where the Director actually drove to an employees house to get their laptop because they took another position with the customer. Just completely unprofessional! Left the employee in tears (he should have called the police) If you value your life and your peace you can find something better. I was under so much stress I lost weight and had terrible stomach cramps that went away the moment my position ended. The money was not worth the stress.

Pros

Dynamic environment could mean lots of opportunities for junior and mid level staff. It could also mean high churn and little to no structure. Generally reasonable hours and a good place to step off to Big Four as long as the rep remains mid-tier. Any slipping in the brand hurts that chance.

Cons

As a legacy PwC employee, I can definitely say that the quality of hires has declined dramitically. We are a mid-tier firm with little to no legacy PwC staff at the Manager and below levels. Most people are new and trying to learn the ropes. We try to sell and bill like we are PwC but clients can see the difference. Even legacy Navigant people are jumping ship. Minimal investment from the PE owners means no L&D opps and paltry annual comp (this coming from a "top performer"). People are often on to "bigger and better things".
