Pros

If you bring valuable skills to the table, you will get staffed on a variety of projects and get a variety of experiences. They are pretty good at keeping the workload ~40 hours a week, and I've never seen a PTO request get rejected.

Cons

Good performance is not rewarded in any meaningful way. Each year you will get a performance rating from 1 to 5, and this determines how big your bonus is - and *only* impacts your bonus. Salary is solely determined by job title, education, and years of experience. However, the bonuses are not very big. This year 3/5's got $3000 and 5/5's got $5000. +$2000 just doesn't justify the amount of extra work required to get a 5/5. Salary increases are pretty small unless you get a promotion. Every manager will give you different answers to even simple questions. Management will lie if it benefits them. Multiple people have gotten offer letters saying they will be working in a downtown Sacramento office. After they accept their offer and move, they are told they will need to commute to a Folsom office instead. They have continued to do this to new employees, even after the issue was raised.

Pros

I can sincerely say I didn't experience one. I guess the recruiting lady was nice.

Cons

The onboarding process is the worst I've experienced in 18 years as a professional. They basically give you a checklist of about 50 things and go 'figure it out'. There is no guidance from any actual humans on what you need to do to get started or how to do it. Managers don't communicate with you during the process. It is all remote. Even for the I9, you know how you usually go in show your id and social security card and then the company does the rest? This company wants you to find your own Authorized representative to verify your documents. Wtf is that? So much red tape, I can't.

Pros

Solid pay and career opportunities

Cons

Guidehouse is trying to grow as quickly as possible because they want to be taken as serious as some of the other big consulting firms, but they lack the management capabilities (and frustratingly, IT infrastructure) to support their growth. Coordination across the company is woeful and it often feels like the left hand doesn’t know what the right is doing. With how aggresively they’re trying to grow, it’s only a matter of time until it catches up to the company. I will not be surpised if in 5 years time they go through serious layoffs.
