Pros

Given a choice between unemployment and working here, I might choose GH- but I'd still need time to think about it.

Cons

Below-average pay, shady management practices, churn-and-burn hiring strategies, limited opportunities for advancement, no investment in training and development. I was there for 2.5 years and that was a long tenure by GH standards.

Pros

lol, you sweet summer child-- the only pro is paying your bills, IF, indeed you can on their salary, which is widely variable.

Cons

GH grew faster than it should have and rather than growing organically, it has grown through acquisition. So even though it's pretty mid-size, functionally it still operates like a start-up in all the worst ways and none of the good ways. It feels disjointed and as if everyone is operating in their own little silo with no real integration even when it is advisable. That is as true on projects as it is with sayyyy having your learning and development coursework integrated into what you're doing. Everything feels a little perfunctory and ad-hoc. Sure people can say 'that's consulting' but the thing is, it doesn't have to be. It's weird to think dysfunction is necessary or 'to be expected' especially if you're a firm that has process improvement in its offering repertoire. Managers vary widely-- some are okay, some are the laziest humans just riding junior consultants coattails and work to the bonus bank. There's a lot of sucking up in order to get ahead. Ditto for business development. Not everyone is good at business development and so logically (and by economic principle of comparative advantage) it's really weird to 'force' people into doing things they're just bad at or not interested in. In terms of HR, there is VERY little help to find projects (see aforementioned sucking up comment) and it is on the employee to find their own projects so that's weird as hell to me because it would seem that there should be a mechanism within that company to slot talent into openings. And I betcha GH would insist there is-- I'm here to tell you it does not function. Not 'it doesn't function well' but it 'does not function AT ALL'. Speak up for yourself salary-wise as you're trying to enter the company because you will not get raises that will put you at the level of your peers if you accidentally lowball yourself on entry. If you're the type of person who enjoys 'figuring it out' on the fly and prefers being left totally alone to do so, you might be happy here, but I'm not sure because most of those types also end up really bored and without enough work to do or slotted into work that is at best a waste of their time and talent. If you are a genuine person, this is not the place for you. You'll swallow your words until you gain 40 pounds or you'll speak them and get reprimanded. Also, don't fall for the diversity, equity, and inclusion items on the website-- horrifyingly not practiced. I witnessed some egregious bias, whether implicit or not.

Pros

Most managers are very understanding. I enjoyed the flexibility. How you can maneuver through the company and advance quickly. There’s always room to grow, if one position doesn’t work for you, you have multiple positions of different specialties that are available.

Cons

Everything was going well when they hired people based off of certifications, degrees, experience, etc., now anyone can walk up and get a job with NO EXPERIENCE and I don’t think that’s fair to the hard workers that put their all into it and get paid the same amount as someone who just walked in the door.
