Pros

open floor plan, some really cool people - made a lot of friends, casual attire,

Cons

Boring projects - you don't actually get to learn or be involved in, you are basically a recruiter. No bonus structure - it does not matter how you perform compared to others (and you know exactly how you compare because they send out numbers to the entire company every month). No promotion structure - anyone who is in a management position got it because of tenure. This means you have unqualified people you are answering to, providing no career growth. Salaries are very low and bonuses are even worse. No work from home flexibility and the worst part is, none of the work you do is collaborative. Meaning, you are just sitting there all day sitting at your computer calling people who do not want to speak with you and you do not get to work collaboratively for more than 15 mins a day. This is why it is so frustrating that there is no work from home capabilities, when all the work being done could be done remote. Another reviewer said it perfectly "If you enjoy an unprofessional environment and a life of monotony from 8:45am (sometimes earlier) - 6:30pm (sometimes later) everyday then this is the place for you. If you don't, then it's tolerable but in no way fulfilling."

Pros

I met some amazing people here and also learned how to work with very difficult management.

Cons

I was let go from Guidepoint after more than 3 years. My manager, who I also considered a friend, read from a robotic script and I was given absolutely no severance. Typically, companies will provide 1 month severance for each year you’ve been there, meaning I should have gotten a 3 month package (especially living in the most expensive city in the US). Management has absolutely no management training and leads using passive aggressiveness. On numerous occasions, I encouraged my managers to implement more positive feedback rather than the constant negative feedback over trivial things. During yearly reviews, you will be reviewed by your managers but there is no way to review them. I even went to HR about this to which they responded “Guidepoint doesn’t do that”. People message me on LinkedIn about getting a job here, and I don’t respond knowing how guilty I would feel referring someone into such a toxic environment. You will also be yelled at for arriving to the office any later than 8:45 am, and the work from home policy is not flexible (even though the norm across America has completely shifted post-covid). Management cares way more about numbers than the actual people behind them. There is a complete lack of respect and employees are not paid enough for the amount of work they’re demanded. There was even a lawsuit because Guidepoint doesn’t pay employees for overtime. A somewhat good place to start out as a young person in NYC, but I highly advise getting out before reaching project manager status as you will be miserable.

Pros

- You come in with 40 other people your age so it's a good way to make friends if you're new to the city

Cons

- Should have listened to the reviews on here! Incredible repetitive, boring work, they only hire from within so upper management is a big echo chamber, and most frustratingly the job is 80% based on luck so the evaluation system is completely unfair. Not the absolute worst job in the world but I would definitely avoid if possible
