Pros

You are selling guitars! Some good people. Good discounts

Cons

Senior leadership is clueless. If you like to be left out of the decision making process, have every minute of your day dictated to you, have no opportunity to exercise your years of training, etc….this place is for you. Of course you are probably a grocery store manager from 1983. Senior leadership lacks humility, has no ability to accept responsibility for the consequences of their decisions, preferring to place blame on the store leadership when the plans that have been dictated to the stores do not pan out the way the were envisioned. Store morale is terrible and senior leadership response is to push harder. No inspiration or motivation. No talent development. As a DM you have no autonomy- just do as you’re told and always be on the road. No planning time, no time to review. Be in stores every day. Oh, and 4-5 hours of zoom calls Every. Single. Day.

Pros

Discounts and rubbing elbows with fellow musicians.

Cons

As of today 1/13/23, the commission structure that was already bad got worse. To make the same we were making a week ago, we would essentially have to sell 3X more products and protection plans to even come close to what we were making.

Pros

I’ve always enjoyed the relationships with my coworkers, at the store level. It’s a fulfilling feeling to help fellow musicians find the gear to help them reach their goals.

Cons

Upper management has made some moves in the last few years to change the in-store environment to a desperate, overworked nightmare. They cut staffing and hours while stretching goals and adding projects. I used to really love the job and was genuinely excited to go to work. Now I wake up with a feeling of dread as I know they are going to try and squeeze every last ounce of energy out of me while they hinder the quality of service we can offer our customers.
