      Pros

      Great discount! Great people, customers and coworkers alike! A good place to learn about music equipment and retail sales environment Decent benefit package!

      Cons

      PAY! Low and commissioned Too much micromanagement Poor management (upper and lower) Inconsistent customer service, merchandising and team effort due to commissioned pay

      Great environment, until customers walk in the store.

      Pros

      Discount Connections with other musicians Promotions are easily attainable Very relaxed environment; they feed off of weird/quirky personalities Sometimes famous musicians come in the store The management at the store I work at are phenomenal and are always willing to help.

      Cons

      Pay- if you're on the sales floor you're working for hourly plus commission Customers can either be very arrogant, they are musicians after all, or incredibly clueless. Example: "I am looking for strings for my brother, but I don't know what brand he likes, the size, or the kind of music he plays.....or if he has an electric or acoustic...can you help me?" The goals the management sets, whether it be sales, pro coverage, or follow ups, can be unreachable if you are new and don't have clientele. If you are female...prepare to be offended by both customers and co-workers daily.

      I have learned a lot over the years, but there is tremendous change going on and many of us are being laid off.

      Pros

      There is mostly good comraderie among the employees and it's a great place to be if you like to be around music equipment and musicians. There is growth opportunity available if you are great in sales.

      Cons

      There aren't really any real cons that I know of. There is a lot of change going on at the management office, and as they attempt to consolidate the various divisions some people are getting laid off or outsourced. So it depends upon which side of the change you are on.
