      Fun but doesn't pay the bills unless you're in management.

      Pros

      Fun crew and engaging work environment. Get to be around the gear you love. Helping customers find exactly what they're looking for is always satisfying.

      Cons

      Pay is not competitive. Favoritism determines career advancement more than anything else. High stress and workload at times. Unprofessional work environment at times.

      Physical job. Employee discounts on gear. Minimal customer interaction.

      Cons

      It's a big box store. It's all about he bottom line for both Operations Managers and General Managers. As an operations associate your sole purpose is to serve the sales team (read: dispose of their waste) who are more often than not unappreciative and disrespectful. Low incentive for promotion unless one wants to run their own store someday. That combined with the pervasive top-down bully culture that permeated the place, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

      Pros

      Learned a lot about large corporate operations and how they look at employees. Great working with other likeminded people except when management pit's employees against each other to meet unrealistic expectations.

      Cons

      Can't trust management. Policies have a lot of grey area and can be used against employees if upper management wants.
