Pros

HANA Center has nice people who work here who want to do good, good mission, aligned on values, good staff, seems to be open to change, committed to progressive values

Cons

lack of structure as they are still growing and figuring out what they're focusing on, most of upper management is unqualified to lead and passive aggressive, high turnover, hypocritical with how they treat their staff vs how they treat the people they serve

Toxic Workplace

Pros

communal lunch with folks from other departments was a good opportunity to get to know people who you usually do not otherwise talk to.

Cons

High turnover rates in the youth organizing department. Instead of address why there is such a high rate of young mostly femme organizers leaving the org, leadership blames "young people not wanting to stay at their jobs." Everyone including supervisors are burnt out and instead of sitting down and ask what the long term plan is to address this issue so that the community and organizers can do their job better - everyone is give a one week "mental health" break. A consultant had to be brought in to address issues that were happening within the team but some members of the team, the ones that were clearly not affected by the issues, were not interested in fixing these issues.

Pros

- Most of the lower-level staff are AMAZING; value-driven, dedicated, knowledgeable, and professional - Flexible hybrid scheduling

Cons

The following cons are my opinions only: - Leadership could be perceived as defensive regarding feedback, even when it is for the benefit of the communities the organization claims to serve - Leadership and management could be perceived as showing favoritism for Korean employees while being racist toward Latine employees, both in terms of interactions and company infrastructure - Management in certain departments could be perceived as consistently unorganized, which then could lead to adverse results for clients, lower-level employees - Leadership could be perceived as maintaining antiquated/misogynistic cultural norms, creating an uncomfortable work environment for non-male, non-hetero, non-cis people - It could be perceived that staff are consistently overworked - The organizational structure could be perceived as having a lack of accountability, especially when it comes to the leadership
