Pros

Great focus on health! The people I work with are incredible.

Cons

We are being moved to Atlanta. Which I get is a good for the business but people and departments are being let go left and right. While many of us were told just a couple months ago we were "safe" and were going to be able to stay we are now being let go too. This has made many people in the San Diego office not trust the upper management. It seems like direction is being changed on a whim with no thought process on a solid future direction. I'm really not bitter, I like the company but the way this is being handled is shadey

Pros

I really did enjoy the work here and cared for and respected my teammates. 2 weeks paid vacation, sick, minimal national holidays, day after thanksgiving off, and 3 floating holidays and 2 extra PTO days. Compensation is good but it depends on your position.

Cons

Ever since the company went public it went downhill. Health benefits are horrible. If it wasn't for my amazing team I would have left a long time ago. There is a lot of politicking that happens. Biggest con is they are moving the main San Diego office out of state to Atlanta. 300 people out of jobs, but good news is that there will be 500 new jobs in Atlanta. They pulled the wool over everyone's eyes and even lied about intentions. It would be hard to trust upper management again. People in professional positions are hourly instead of salary. Getting paid overtime is great but you feel like a teenager having to punch a clock and beware of kronos with it's red boxes.

We are very sorry to hear you are having this experience. As health care prices continue to rise, we are focusing our efforts toward putting together the best wellness and benefits plans for both you and your family. It is our goal that we meet your personal health care needs by striking a balance between your health coverage and corresponding costs. We do not take any of our business decisions lightly, and we know our decisions impact people’s lives. As we shared earlier this year, we made the strategic decision to move our San Diego headquarter office to Atlanta, and, regrettably, when you make these types of transitions, you often lose good people who have made significant contributions to our success. We encourage you to discuss these concerns with your manager or HR Partner. We are committed to providing you with a variety of outlets through which you can voice your concerns. In the case that you do not feel comfortable discussing the matter with your manager, please contact your HR Partner or business leader. Finally, if the matter is not resolved, please call the HD Supply AlertLine® or complete an on-line report via the AlertLine® at www.hdsupplyalertline.com. Thank you for your honesty.

Extremely valuable experience overall, but outlook is grim

Pros

Managers for my team were proactive about offering opportunities for personal growth. Fellow coworkers on immediate team are incredibly intelligent, talented and focused. Culture is very inclusive. Excellent focus on work-life balance - management values working smarter over working longer. Prior to layoffs, this would have been an excellent place to learn and grow for many more years.

Cons

Tons of favoritism in larger department, resulting in the same people getting all the high-visibility projects regardless of actual ability or effectiveness. Certain teams hold information close to their vests and don't like to share until it's too late for others to give input, resulting in horrible execution with long-ranging results. Upper management likes to make decisions based on emotions, let teams build up momentum, and then go back on their word. Recent massive layoffs are being handled poorly. Upper mgmt is continuously stringing associates along & not providing any information, yet all teams are being asked to stay motivated and continue meeting sales goals.
