      Solid benefits (401K matching, employer stock options).

      Cons

      Most structural engineering work is outsourced. Only misc. and small project are given to structural engineers. Work at a structural only firm if you want to design anything big.

      Pros

      For professional consultants, the compensation and benefits are good at HDR, though I think that consultants make good money anywhere they work. Also you can be really flexible with your schedule, as long as you meet your utilization targets.

      Cons

      Utilization targets; if you're not meeting the high targets set for you, you'll definitely feel the pressure from your managers. Also, this is a large company, so there is a ton of bureaucracy given the amount of overhead the company carries.
