The companies number 1, 2, 3 focus is on utilization. They expect you to start achieving high UT after 6 weeks. Management is poor especially in the Rosemont, Chicago office with lots of people leaving. A very parochial approach to business and people. If you like working for state and local DOT’s and only for DOT’s, HDR is a good fit. Future tech and how to invest in it is a foreign concept to them.

Pros

Great benefits. You can make it what you want by working hard and winning projects. Most employees are great people.

Cons

We’ve had a couple of very bad managers. Regional managers would not address issues. These people were terrible and staff left in droves. One retired and one is being promoted to run an entire state operation! It’s like they are rewarding total narcissism and micromanagement skills.
