Pros

They have an excellent 401K; you'll work with some well educated folks; the projects are diversified which keeps the work interesting; and they're generous with their employee training.

Cons

You have to market yourself to other employees nationwide to contribute to their projects to stay billable. Tough to work with a manager that works in a different state.

Pros

HDR is a top 10 engineering company. It is well run, profitable corporation, with excellent compensation and benefits packages. Core values of the leadership are ethical and professional. The company is employee-owned resulting in a strong work ethic and shared rewards.

Cons

The company weathered the recession, managing to the bottom-line by eliminating approximately ten-percent of its work-force. This wass done in multiple lay-offs and position eliminations, particularly for older, senior employees that were not fully billable, in areas where the recession hit the hardest . The positive spin put on this was that it created opportunities for younger, middle managers to move up and help with succession plan implementation.
