Pros

The talent they hired was high quality. Everyone in my department was incredibly smart and driven. There was never any question of competence. Schedule was flexible when it needed to be Work was mostly high profile and interesting Compensation was adequate and around industry standard

Cons

Culture is very souless and corporate. Lots of empty suits and stale perspectives. There are so many different departments/offices and nobody ever collaborated. I don't remember ever working with engineering at all. No mentorship or support. If you're not 100% self starting, you won't work well. My utilization was less than 30% and I never had direction or regular assignments,

Only concerned about profit.

Pros

Flexible work schedule. Unlimited coffee.

Cons

Infrastructure company with typical low salaries and poor management. Mediocre benefits package, laughable 401k, and wasteful spending. Hurricane Irma put many Florida workers out of work for a few days. Instead of showing compassion for the <200 employees we were told to take PTO, go negative on PTO, or take unpaid leave. A company this size (10,000 employees) should be able to spare a few days of PTO for 200 employees. Instead, they choose to punish those who saved PTO for vacation while asking for PTO donations from other offices. Either way, HDR will get their money. They don't care about you.

Pros

They are very loose on their times and you can get away with alot. Benefits are good but small return with their ESOP.

Cons

Structure of the company. Management is not qualified to run EPC work and it shows with their completion of work, understanding of scope and process. If i was to write a book of how to not run a EPC company, I would hire HDR to be my main consulting for the novel.
