Great Team and Fast-Growing Organization

Pros

Joining the team about HHAeXchange is one of the best career moves I’ve ever made. When I decided to make my next career move, I had 3 different offers, including one from a well-known tech “unicorn”, but I chose HHAeXchange as I felt it presented the opportunity to help build something truly special. 5 months in, I couldn’t be happier with my decision. Since I’ve been here, we have continued to expand into new markets, meaning more growth for the team and new challenges for everyone at the company. In my role in Sales Operations I’ve been tasked with laying the foundation for this explosive growth. As part of this, I have gained invaluable experience and the chance to build a Sales Operations organization from scratch, while having the benefits of working for an already successful and secure company. Most importantly, the team is first class and is led by a superstar VP who truly does everything he can to enable the success of both the team at large and each individual. Like any rapidly scaling organization, there is plenty of work to go around, but the culture is results-oriented and focused on achievements as opposed to micromanagement. The commute to Long Island City made me nervous at first, but my door to door commute from Hudson County, NJ is the same as when I worked in the Flatiron District.

Cons

There are the usual growing pains and day to day headaches associated with any rapidly expanding organization, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Pros

Restricted Freedom of Speech and Thought: Employees seem to face limitations in expressing their opinions or thinking freely. They may be subjected to unspoken directives to isolate or shun a colleague if management decides to remove that individual. This creates a hostile environment, discourages open communication, and undermines trust among team members. I encountered significant challenges related to racism and sexism during my time at the company. As a person of color, I often felt the need to downplay my skills to fit in, and advancement seemed to favor those who distanced themselves from their identity. Women, especially, were outnumbered and often treated as competitors rather than colleagues, with management fostering a culture of favoritism and bias. The work environment was marred by unprofessional behavior, including trash-talking, dishonest performance evaluations, and a lack of recognition for skill and experience. The company also engaged in questionable practices, such as recording and grading calls from non-customers who would use abusive language, which would be treated as legitimate customer feedback. There is a lack of clear leadership, with confusion and competition among managers, leading to inconsistent decision-making. This lack of accountability results in no one taking genuine responsibility for major decisions, leaving employees in limbo. Employees may feel like they are being used as "guinea pigs," with their skills underutilized or stifled, rather than being given the opportunity to grow or contribute meaningfully. While the office setting itself was beautiful, the leadership and management culture left much to be desired, with favoritism and mediocrity frequently rewarded over genuine talent and hard work.

Cons

The interview, hiring, and onboarding process moves quickly, good for some people or feel rushed for others. While the starting pay is slightly better than some competitors for similar roles, it may not fully reflect the demands of the job. The company does make efforts to maintain a clean and well-stocked breakroom, which is appreciated, though it doesn't compensate for the deeper issues present.

Does not value their employees

Pros

Its a solid company with good potential.

Cons

Unfortunately they dont value the knowledge and skills you bring to the table. You are hired for one thing and up doing something completely different. They move you from one department to another and don't take into account if you want to or not. You as an employee have no say!
