Pros

A challenging workplace Great case study in navigating office politics. Good career advancement opportunities for operations employees

Cons

Culture is a big selling point for the company when recruiting, but there is definitely a disconnect between who they think they are and who they actually are. Construction may be a male-dominated industry, but even with a female CEO leading, HITT doesn't seem to be making any strides toward becoming an inclusive or supportive work environment for women. As an example, during a Peep's Diorama contest aimed at building employee engagement, the winner was "Peep Show", a strip-club themed entry that had a stripper bunny on stage, with HITT trucks parked outside and little table tents that said "reserved for HITT" on the tables inside. What? How is this okay? Egos get in the way of empowerment. Unwilling (or unable?) to evolve. CHEAP. As a $1+ billion dollar company, they don't invest in the tools they NEED despite being more than able to afford them. (think software, licenses, training) No idea how Corporate Resources (finance, HR, marketing, etc.) retains team members. On the operations side of the house we have a lot more autonomy and trust than these teams who are treated as second-class by some in leadership and theres like zero career opportunities for those people. (mostly women in those roles).

Pros

I think HITT does a good job developing young talent and promoting from within. The recent change in leadership shows that the Company is ready to take HITT to the next level and is ready to take on the challenges brought on by construction in today's economy and market.

Cons

In my opinion, the work-life balance isn't great and work hours are long and rigid. Many people work Saturdays and some Sundays with little-to-no extra compensation or benefit other than showing you buy into the Company culture. As this is the case with many top notch construction firms, I would just be aware what you are getting into before you join a certain sector (interiors, govt, base building, technology, etc.)
