Really appreciate the feedback. I'd encourage you to talk with your supervisor, or some other trusted manager to test out your concerns. There are many times that management decisions are far more complex, sensitive and confidential than can be shared broadly. This really is a caring environment - just trying to do the right thing as challenging circumstances arise.

Pros

Caterpillar Product Line sells itself.

Cons

Value based Leadership profile is basically a joke. Most talk the talk, but do not walk the walk.

Pros and Cons

Pros

1. Most of the people at Holt are nice and many are very skilled. Even after I gave my notice, most people were very kind and supportive. 2. Holt provides many online trainings and certifications. 3. People on adjacent teams were very appreciative and helpful. 4. Pay and benefits were pretty good. 5. If you are willing to play “the game”, you can move up quickly. 6. Very diverse team.

Cons

1. Video cameras required to be on during all calls. 2. Some team members have an incredibly light workload while others (even on the same team) are very overworked. 3. Although management says they value work life balance, steps are not taken to address workload issues and feedback is not welcomed from those doing the work. In fact, when I presented ideas to try and improve the situation, it was treated as if I was being insubordinate and impatient. I was told that management was “working on it” and that it was inappropriate for me to share suggestions for improvement to anyone besides my direct manager. It’s important for me to feel like I have a voice, regardless of my job title, so this conversation helped me make my decision to leave. 4. Direct communication is not valued, nor is simplicity. Managers spend a lot of time discussing problems, but don’t often actually resolve them. From an outside perspective, it seems like analysis paralysis. 5. Overall, the environment was very political and difficult to be successful in.
