Unorganized and Disconnected from their employees

Pros

Apparently the benefits are good and most of your co-workers are what keeps people there. If you happen to have one of the few good managers who actually looks out for their employees, then you will be shielded from most of the crap that goes on. If you love playing the game of office politics, then this is the match for you.

Cons

The lack of communication between upper management and those who actually do the work astounds me. Internally there are so many good employees who want to provide excellent service for the clients of HSA Bank, yet it is stifled and pushed aside by those above. I have experienced that it doesn't matter how high of quality of work you produce, or even how well of metrics you have, as long as you rub someone in upper management the wrong way, you will suffer and see no chance for growth. All upper management wants is a bunch of "yes" men who say or do anything for self promotion.

Don't waste your time or talent at HSA Bank

Pros

The industry HSA Bank participates in is exciting. The parent company Webster Bank is well known on the east coast.

Cons

Executive Management is extremely dysfunctional. Parent Company (Webster Bank) has no idea how bad it is. CEO is chairman of the board of the Boys club. If you are a young progressive professional don't waste your time at HSA Bank. Work life balance is non-existent. There is no sense of how to value employees. HR is completely disengaged.

Pros

This is a growing industry, so we're always hiring. Salaries are decent and we have a generous PTO policy. In addition, all employees are offered the opportunity to use 4 work hours per quarter for community volunteering (while getting paid).

Cons

The workload tends to be heavy and stressful most of the year. Makes work/life balance difficult to achieve. Certain processes and procedures take too long and hinder productivity. Most people are great, but as with all companies, there are a few non-team players.
