Good company, poor employee focus

Pros

Hain has a great range of products and a lot of potential to grow its business. There is a lot of demand for a "healthier alternative" which Hain is in a good position to capitalize on if it can get the right strategy.

Cons

Hain hasn't paid a bonus in years. The bonus program is entirely discretionary, so even though the company's sales and net income have grown year over year for several years, employees that made this possible haven't shared in that success. While there are promotion opportunities within Hain, a lot of them involve working out of the NY headquarters, and there doesn't seem to be an overall strategy within the company to retain top talent.

Pros

Great products, Great people. Good work/life balance. Health Benefits are fine. Good workplace environment, but brought dowm by management inability to motivate and recognize accomplishments.

Cons

Management doesn't have a clue how to treat top employees. Mostly double digit growth for the past 13 qtrs and hasn't paid out a bonus. Uses the term discretionary as the reason they don't pay out. Lot of good people leaving and expect to see many more as this continues. if you are in sales and want a decent wage but no bonus - be aware.

Pros

Great pay, great benefits, training was OK. I worked from home, so that was a great perk.

Cons

I worked for this company for a few years and would have described myself as a company man. I loved working for this company, until they decided to lay off their entire outside sales force which I was a part of. For the past 5+ years the hain direct sales force hit record sales, hit bonus goals for the past 3 years, and then they sold us down the river to a brokerage company. Days after getting laid off, Simon announced the purchase of a 25$million company based in canada. I lost my job, along with 70 other people, some of which had been here for 25+ years when the company was formed. My advice is to enjoy this job while it last, because even though you may be the best sales team in the natural channel, you can still be sold down the river to make profits look better.
