Tough job in a small, closed community

Interesting work for a well established company. Loved being around the heavy manufacturing environment, being able to affect change and learn from very experienced people.

Cons

Working in a small town is difficult due to Halliburton being the only game in town. Closed minds and limited opportunities.

great employees. Training program is excellent. Lot's of emphasis on safety. Good safety training program. Good company to start out with to learn the business.

Cons

very little concern with employees livelihood. Could care less if you have a home to pay for or a family to feed when it's time for lay offs. No consideration regarding job performance when market conditions fall. The best employees are laid off. The ones making the lowest salaries are retained. This is the reason Unions were formed 100 years ago.

Pros

Amazing benefits for insurance and up to 9% match for 401k. You'll make a lot of money and they provide ways for you to advance in your career if you work hard enough. I started out as an operator and became a field engineer in 2 1/2 years.

Cons

If you work in the field you'll work a lot. Hard to have a stable family life. Because Halliburton's work is based off a commodity, it can be unstable based off of the market. Basically it's either feast or famine and in times of the famine if you don't know anything else but the oil field you'll have trouble findindg work.
