Pros

benefits are fair, and the time off is generous. higher education, in general, is typically a smaller environment which can be nice for networking and building camaraderie with coworkers and teammates.

Cons

there is a high resistance to change, and a sever lack of prioritization at a leadership level. high levels of disregard and disrespect and/or collaboration between faculty and staff.

Hamline is a nice place to work

Pros

Hamline's new president, Dr. Faynese Miller, has injected a sense of collegiality. Hamline is very mission driven with a strong emphasis on civic engagement and social justice.

Cons

The salaries tend to be lower than they are at other similar institutions--and without a sense that an increase is in the offing. There's a "Hamline Way" of doing things that's tough to get, but the way itself is a cool thing.

Pros

Great colleagues and student centered.

Cons

The pay is low; not all academic jobs are valued the same.
