Pros

Overall, I think Hanover is an amazing company. There are endless possibilities for growth within the company that can go even beyond sales if you are so inclined. Not only do they dedicate a significant amount of time to your training in the beginning, they are highly motivated to offer professional development opportunities that allow each employee to succeed. During my time at Hanover, I have held numerous roles and have had the opportunity to do work that is typically reserved for more senior and tenured individuals. These opportunities are presented when you are able to demonstrate your mastery of the skills required to succeed and the possibilities are endless for growth. Not only did I enjoy the work itself, I found that my coworkers have become close friends and those that I will keep for years to come. I can't say enough about how amazing this company is, especially for individuals seeking to enter the sales profession or recent graduates who are looking to start their career with a dynamic and diverse team that will ultimately set you up for success no matter where your career takes you.

Cons

The job can be stressful at times when running at a sales goal, but this can be said in any sales role.

Pros

Hard work is rewarded Good healthcare & PTO Access to senior management Professional development opportunities Hanover has a lot of good things going. I thoroughly enjoy the people I work with, I feel like I am given the tools to succeed, and the coaching to help me when I need it. You will learn a lot in this position (BDA and SDA) that will stick with you for a long time - work hard, even when things aren't going exactly your way, ask for help when you need it, and give back to others when you get to a point that you're able to. Overall, I have had a very positive experience at Hanover and feel like I have learned a lot. I look forward to moving up and gaining new responsibilities because I feel like I am ready for them. I would recommend to a friend and I have, multiple times.

Cons

Any sales job can be tough at times Hanover isn't perfect, no company is. We sometimes get a bad rap because this is the first place many people work and they come in with unrealistic expectations. You need to show up when you're supposed to, work hard, and generally do what is expected of you. This isn't college anymore. You can't skip class, you have actual responsibility, and you don't deserve anything just because you're here - you have to earn it. Some people aren't ready to handle that. If you do these things, you will do just fine. I certainly have not been a perfect associate - I have had my fair share of trials and tribulations, and every time, I have had people take the time to help me out and get me back on the right track, and I'm very thankful for that.

Pros

The company culture at HR is very unique in that there is a work hard-play hard mentality and employees are encouraged to enjoy their time outside the office together. Many company- and team-wide incentives like happy hours, boat cruises around the city, and sports outings are offered. Competitive compensation balances out the not-so-competitive salary. Good opportunities for growth if sales is something you are interested in pursuing long-term. Because of the Associate-Director-Managing Director relationship on each team, upper management is easily accessible and very willing to listen to any recommendations/hesitations you may have. Run-ins with upper management is very common and not something you find at every company.

Cons

While HR is valued as a meritocracy, majority of the C-Suite Execs are quite young and haven't experienced many other companies outside of HR. Because of this, there is room for managerial improvement. As for the role itself, sales is sales so make sure you know what you're getting yourself into before you dive in. The job can become tedious and frustrating, and it's easy to feel like you are putting in more time and work than what is being produced and recognized (which is typical of many jobs).

Thank you for your feedback. I am glad that you had a positive experience during your time at Hanover. Entry level sales roles can be challenging, as you mentioned, but the skills acquired provide an excellent foundation for other opportunities. Our hope is that employees use their time in sales as a launching pad for their next step in their careers. These are first jobs, not last jobs, where the skills learned can be applied in future roles even if sales is not a long-term career aspiration. Our C-suite is a good mixture of home-grown talent as well as external hires. I think the fact that staff can achieve the C-level at Hanover speaks to our focus on promoting from within which was appealing to me when I joined the company.
