Was absolutely great but became hostile

The first 10 years it was one of the best companies you could work for, it felt like a family and our members were happy with our services.

Cons

The last 5 years this Credit Union has turned into what I would consider one of the most hostile work environments. Employees committing fraud, people's pay being changed on an ongoing basis (when complaining to HR - employees are told its legal, employees out on leave with mental health issues due to the treatment and enviroment.

Management blocked Git installs across the team because they didn’t understand that Azure DevOps literally uses Git under the hood. When I explained this, they got defensive and said, “I know what it is,” then asked me, “Are you talking about Git SCM?”, as if there’s another kind. You can't build software in a place where leadership is this insecure and out of touch. They micromanage engineers while misunderstanding the basics of version control. I quit after a manager tried to force me to attend an in-person conference that directly conflicted with a doctor’s appointment I had clearly communicated in advance. They said, “Let me be very clear, I expect you to [be signed up for the conference] in 5 minutes.” I quit almost immediately after that.
