Upper management seems indecisive. Training on the company's website seems outdated compared to the way the registers are actually run. They talk about "success drives" but do not promote from within even after you've been praised, received monetary increase (which isn't much) from corporate. At the end you end up feeling unappreciated and under valued.

Pros

There are no pros to working here. Their motto is everyone is replaceable. They hire a lot of people for part-time jobs when a store is opening. They use you, and after the store is open, throw you away. The job is only temporary. If you are a sucker, like me, you'll believe them when they say their are opportunities for advancement. Do not believe them. They are just using you.

Cons

-Lying managers -Expect new store job to be only temporary -Nothing appreciated -Only way to get hours is to come when they call. They say this is what will help you get full time, but it won't -Crappy management -Sell Dr appt products

Thank you for sharing your feedback, we appreciate you taking the time to let us know where you think we have opportunities to improve. As you know we have core principles that guide us and keep us accountable to our associates, many of the issues you mentioned above are simply unacceptable and items we don't stand for and I encourage you to speak directly with your District Manager or Regional Human Resources Manager because they wouldn't stand for managers lying, not appreciating their teams and crappy managers. Harbor Freight Tools isn't perfect and we have work to do and but we are headed in the right direction. On a personal note, I am newer (1 year) to Harbor Freight Tools and I have had the pleasure of meeting our Owner/CEO and attend meetings with him. I have heard him ask again and again, 'how will this affect our associates' or 'what is the right thing to for our associates' and I have heard him challenge the leadership team to always do the right thing for our associates. Our Owner/CEO is one of the most humble, brilliant and compassionate leaders I have ever had the opportunity to work for and I know thousands would agree. Thank you for all you do to help Harbor Freight Tools deliver value to the hardworking.

Pros. My fellow employees are fantastic.

Cons

Cons. OK I can write a full book on cons alone. Where to start.. 1: This is not worth minimum wage. They will we work you to they bone and Still tell you to work faster..harder. You are just a body here. Nothing you do will be good enough and that's a promise. 2: Forget work/Life balance. Doesn't apply here. It doesn't matter so don't fight it. 3: Pay. You are working harder than any job you have ever had for the absolute minimum wage legally allowed. Again they don't care. 4: You will work the craziest hours. Morning hours. Then day shift. Then overnight just to turn around and make you come in a coupé hours later. Again zero respect for the work/life balance. 5: Safety. None. I can't tell you how many times I've been hurt along with my employees. If you speak up, it will be you're fault believe me. 6: If you are still reading this and haven't run away then go back to number 1: and read it again.
