Pros

20% discount, generous paid time off

Cons

It’s truly a lot to take in and they work you to the bone! If you’re not used to standing all day or multitasking during busy and non busy hours, this job is not for you. You must answer phones all while handling customers, make announcements every 30, and pitch the sales for membership, credit card and extended warranty. Along with this the checkout process is way to long and you have to verify each customers information or put them in the system. It can be truly stressful especially during sales.

Pros

The products, prices, services, and policies are easy to stand behind because they are both simple and sensible while easily beating competitor offerings. Aside from the occasional rotten customers you'd experience at any retail job the customers you interact with here generally are much more kind, patient, and knowledgable than you'd see elsewhere. Associate benefits are superior to the offerings found at most other retail companies, including for part-time employees, and the 20% associate discount is great. Due to private ownership the company is more flexible and continues to update its policies and practices in ways that improve the experience for both customers and associates. Leadership is always willing to listen and provide mentorship and additional training when something isn't right. There are constant opportunities for advancement, especially if you're willing to move. Anyone staying at the company for more than a few years can achieve a leadership position if they're willing to take on the responsibility associated with it.

Cons

I've struggled with inventory processes due to some logistics associates, primarily the part-time college kids, not following procedures and failing to effectively communicate thus introducing inefficiencies into the work which increases the workload. Logistics, particularly truck receiving, is physically intensive. My smart watch shows me burning an average of 1,200 activity calories and achieving >20,000 steps on a truck night. Some customers can be terrible to interact with, although nothing beyond what you'd experience in most customer-facing retail roles. While superb for an entry-level retail position you must understand that it's just that. You won't be making $50,000/year. You will be doing menial tasks and interacting with the public a lot.
