Room for Growth

Pros

I've found that at Harbor, I can grow. There is an excellent pathway for advancing my personal education with their reimbursement programs and a pretty generous referral bonus, especially for clinical staff. There is room to grow with just a BA, to Masters, and onto independent licence. Harbor brings in speakers for CEU credits and the majority of them can be covered by internal conferences and training. It's nice to be celebrated and every so often they have a "Harbor-ized" giveaway's for us to use. Typically very practical for office use. Bonus of the benefits, because I only have myself on my insurance and not my family, Harbor pays for my insurance and I get a cash pay out every month in my check for only having myself on the plan. They pay us for not having to cover additional family members. The flexible scheduling is really helpful for home life. I like living in Northwest Ohio. The cost of living is crazy cheap compared to Los Angeles where I previously lived. My team that I work with, we work very well together and I feel that I could easily talk to my supervisor if a problem arose.

Cons

Communication from top leadership could be better, they are trying. They acknowledge it could be better. We are VERY busy. There is no down time. Not that you need downtime but Harbor is busy. If you like twiddling your thumbs, Harbor isn't for you. Our offices are spread out throughout the NW Ohio area so it could be a drive depending on your position. Also, because we are so spread out, sometimes it's hard to know what is going on at other locations.

Not a bad gig

Pros

Freedom - Supervision is practically nonexistent. Benefits - Benefits are decent. 3 weeks vaca after 3 years. Accrues to about 120 days or so. Pays out when you leave. Laid back - Minimal after-hours work. Staff patient and kind. Tuition Reimbursement - 75% up to ~$5K/yr.

Cons

Pay - Pay well below industry averages. Supervision - Pretty much nonexistent. No direction. Training - Nonexistent. Culture - Management very secretive. Too many people drinking "Kool-Aid" to make good decisions. Funding - Money for projects radically ebbs and flows. Advancement - Company small, no room for advancement. Future - Company currently working with Promedica (hospital network in Toledo). No one knows how this will impact their position.
