Pros

Managers can be believable, will assist in life work balance, and supportive. Training is available if going to school is not an option, so job performance can improve. Retirement contribuion is available, should start early. Managers try to save jobs during economic shortfal.

Cons

Pay is low, opportunities for advancement are minimal, i you are on a gerant you may or maynot have job security. Managers do not plan expenditures well.

The best reasons to work for Harris County is for the benefits and for the retirement. I love the people I work with also. This is an added bonus.

Cons

Unless you are one of the few higher ups within the County you will not get rich working for Harris County but you will have a stable job with decent pay.
