Pros

Can earn decent bonus depending on store location

Cons

Zero work/life balance. You will work 65-70 hrs/wk with schedules varying leaving you little to no time to sleep between shifts. It is a white male environment and corporate doesn’t care about its employees. Good old boys club where “locker room” talk and behavior is accepted. Dist Mgrs who violate major rules just get transferred or promoted. You will be called, emailed, texted on your off time and told to come in and cover shifts without regard to your personal time. The hourly staff is so thin that basic dept duties can’t even be covered so it falls onto the co-mgr to perform hourly associate duties as well as their own. Don’t be fooled by the by-lines they feed you. Do yourself and your family a favor and stay away!

Pros

Ive been working with the company a little over three years. From Meat Clerk, to Journeyman meat cutter and now Assistant Manager of the Meat Market. Harris Teeter has always treated me well. Having an exceptional job performance you are rewarded with free lunches and yearly promotions/raises. The two annual bonuses are a major plus. Human Resources and the corporate personal are wonderful to work with!

Cons

Senior management within the particular stores is not good. Some of the stores I have worked in have been absolutley wonderfull. Others are not good at all at some points. The upper management within the store doesn't do as much as those under them which I think is very unfair but some stores upper management does much more. If you aren't apart of a "click" with in the upper management no one likes you. You're going to work every holiday and weekend practically unless you ask off. Constantly changing hours every week and day. Work and life outside of work will change.
