Pros

The co-workers are by far the best thing about Harris Teeter. Often times they are the only thing that keeps me from seeking other employment. Profit sharing bonus checks, given twice a year, are also a nice perk. Vacation time for part-timers is another great thing about Harris Teeter.

Cons

Management is one of the largest problems. They are extremely inconsistent with how things are run and what is expected of associates. Managers, especially on the front end, are also constantly switched around and swapped out between stores. This leads to many problems between management and employees. Hours are also another issue, one week you are scheduled 25 hours and the nest week only 9. The pay is also another large issue. Don't get me wrong, Harris Teeter starts employees out at more than most other stores. But they don't pay nearly enough when you advance in job positions. I went from being a cashier to customer service and all I received was an extra quarter and three times as many headaches. I also promoted from customer service to office assistant and didn't get anything but a title change. Its absurd that they will pay a new hire who comes from another company leaps and bounds more than someone who starts from the bottom and moves up. Great workers also undervalued, there isn't enough incentive to come to work, do a great job, and advance.
