Pros

they will give you flexability, steady pay raises and a variety of jobs and locations. They offer training and growth and relocation options.

Cons

very hard work, fast pace, management not always understanding. need to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Be able to stand up for long periods of time.

Pros

Slightly higher starting pay, some extra from profit sharing (though usually just a few hundred twice a year), 401k i guess, health & dental I suppose

Cons

raises are nothing to excited about........usually less than 50 cents per year; profit sharing isn't much better (i'd rather just get paid more); we almost never have enough people in the deli, and if somebody calls out, it's rare for us to call someone else in;you try to make a suggestion to upper store management and they pretty much treat you like dirt, trying to give your two cents? don't bother cause they don't want to hear it. I've lost count of how many anxiety attacks I've had since I started working for Harris Teeter, and it's only been about 3 years. I'm afraid to leave my house on my day off, and have changed the ring on my cell for when ht calls to silent.

Pros

Benefits, health plan, flexibility with scheduling. Fellow employees are great. The company has numerous stores making it easy to tranfer to location in close proximity to home or school.

Cons

Department Management at 2/3rds of the stores I have worked in were not as efficient, effective, respectful, or accountable as I would expect. Customers are some time rude and hurtful. Management cares more about customer than employees in many instances. (Keep your employees happy and your customers will be too.) Company has cut hours and suppossedly placed a hiring freeze of full time employees. Higher management seems to be placed on a pedestal and rarely get their hands dirty when perspective departments are in desperate need.
