Pros

They offer good salaries and great perks. The health insurance is great, you get reimbursement for personal and professional development classes, lots of parties and events.

Pros

Excellent health benefits People are friendly for the most part and willing to collaborate Intelligent and hard working group of individuals

Cons

Work life balance is a thing of the past. It is discouraged rather than encouraged. No clear set career paths for middle managers Professional development is not isn't clear and no direction received from managers

Pros

*Some of the smartest people in management thinking *Idea-driven cultures in some departments *Excellent benefits, good work-life balance *Opportunities for experience in most areas of publishing (web, print, interactive, etc) *Apprenticeship model was, until recently, still part of the editorial career development *High quality products and lots of them *Strongly mission-driven *Growing organization

Cons

*Struggles with sustaining and resourcing innovation *Historically siloed departments and business units remain challenges *Obsession with brand at times *Some departments suffer from ivory towerism (and it's odd to actually see this) *Career advancement stalls at middle level - poor support and retention of top talent
